About the Role
Thompsons UK Ltd are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our engineering team as a Level 3 Apprentice Engineering Fitter. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience while working towards a recognised qualification with East Surrey College. The successful candidate will develop practical engineering skills alongside theoretical knowledge, supporting the assembly, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems within a professional workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the assembly, fitting, and installation of engineering components and equipment
- Use a range of hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments safely and effectively
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Support maintenance and repair activities to ensure machinery operates efficiently
- Carry out inspections and identify faults or defects
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times
- Keep the work environment clean, organised, and compliant with company procedures
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and follow instructions from supervisors
Training and Development
- Attend East Surrey College on a day or block release basis to complete the Level 3 Engineering Fitter apprenticeship
- Gain practical, on-the-job training within Thompsons UK Ltd
- Develop knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and processes
- Build skills in mechanical fitting, maintenance, and fault finding
Requirements
- Strong interest in engineering and mechanical work
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English preferred
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Good attention to detail and a practical approach to tasks
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to completing the apprenticeship
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday
Rate of Pay: £9.00ph
Pay: From £9.00 per hour
