We are looking for an experienced and driven Lead Journalist to join our team and help shape compelling stories, investigations, interviews, and editorial content.

The Role
As Lead Journalist, you will take ownership of editorial content production, oversee story development, and help drive the overall direction of news and feature coverage. You will work closely with internal teams, contributors, and external stakeholders to ensure content is delivered to a high professional standard.
You will play a key role in identifying newsworthy topics, leading investigations, conducting interviews, and mentoring junior contributors where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, investigate, and produce high-quality news stories, articles, and features
- Lead editorial planning and content development
- Identify breaking news, trends, and relevant topics
- Conduct interviews with contributors, stakeholders, and public figures
- Ensure all content is accurate, legally compliant, and aligned with editorial standards
- Review and edit content produced by other writers or contributors
- Work collaboratively with marketing, media, PR, and production teams
- Develop engaging digital and multimedia content where appropriate
- Maintain strong journalistic integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards
- Support audience growth through compelling storytelling and content strategy
- Attend events, press briefings, and external meetings when required
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in journalism, media, broadcasting, or editorial roles
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Strong research and investigative abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and editorial judgement
- Understanding of media law, defamation, and journalistic ethics
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Desirable
- Degree in Journalism, Media, Communications, or a related field
- Experience in digital media, podcasting, or broadcast journalism
- Experience managing or mentoring junior writers/journalists
- Knowledge of SEO and digital audience engagement strategies
- Multimedia production or social media content experience
