Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced chef to run our kitchen at Pooky’s Deli in Horsforth. We are a small independent cafe with a commitment to quality produce and fresh food. This is a full-time role with sociable hours for someone whose skills and experience will be well utilised and appreciated.
You will be a key part of a tight knit team, working alongside front of house and management. small You will have accountability for the successful delivery of kitchen operations, whether this is during our breakfast and lunch service for the café’s 40 covers or producing hot food for outside catering or supporting production, which makes a wide range of pastries and cakes. It would be your responsibility to maintain the high standards for our menu as well as having the opportunity to help develop into our food offer.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with recipes and quality standards
- Responsible for food production processes, maintaining consistency and presentation standards - from prep to plate.
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure seamless service delivery during busy periods
- · Running an efficient, consistent and prompt service in a fresh food kitchen
- Developing food lines to keep great quality and exciting food coming out of the kitchen, alongside maintaining profitability
- Working closely with baker, supervisors and management
- Determining food inventory needs, stocking and ordering, minimising food waste
- Ensure kitchen is kept impeccably clean, kept in good order and meet all requirements of Food Safety Act & Health & Safety Act, achieving excellence in hygiene standards and in line with company policies
Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment, ideally within a cafe, restaurant or hospitality setting
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and culinary arts
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management. Must have min Level 2 but ideally level 3 food hygiene certificate ·
- Experience with menu development, food presentation, and customer service excellence
- Familiarity with restaurant operations, serving procedures, and hospitality standards
The successful candidate will possess a passion for food, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work. Able to handle regular changes in pace depending on time of day/week. Have a strong work ethic, be able to adapt to varying degrees of pressure

Salary £30-34k plus share of tips.
Full-time position. Hours are typically 7.30 – 3.30 and include weekends.

Pay: £30,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
