Mental Health Officer – Social Work | Adults Mental Health Services

Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Mental Health Officer (MHO) Social Worker to join a statutory Adults Mental Health Social Work service in Stirling. This is a high-demand locum social work opportunity within a local authority mental health team, involving statutory Mental Health Act work, tribunal preparation, and multi-agency safeguarding and care planning.
This role is ideal for a qualified social worker with Mental Health Officer qualification in Scotland, looking for a well-supported locum social work position with flexible working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities – Mental Health Social Work / MHO Duties
- Undertake statutory Mental Health Act assessments in line with Scottish mental health legislation
- Carry out Mental Health Officer (MHO) duties within adults mental health services
- Prepare detailed tribunal reports, court reports, and statutory documentation
- Work closely with NHS mental health teams, psychiatrists, and multi-agency professionals
- Manage complex mental health casework involving risk assessment and safeguarding adults
- Participate in Care Programme Approach (CPA) meetings and multi-agency reviews
- Support individuals subject to compulsory treatment orders and guardianship applications
- Ensure compliance with adult safeguarding procedures and mental health legislation
Essential Requirements – Mental Health Officer / Social Work Jobs Scotland
- Qualified Social Worker registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
- Approved Mental Health Officer (AMHP) qualification OR Mental Health Officer (MHO) qualification in Scotland
- Proven experience in statutory mental health social work
- Strong knowledge of mental health legislation, tribunals, and adult safeguarding
- Experience working within NHS integrated mental health teams or local authority social work teams
- Excellent communication, assessment, and report writing skills
Working Pattern – Flexible Social Work Role Scotland
This locum Mental Health Officer role offers hybrid working and a condensed 4-day working week where preferred, subject to service needs and agreement with the local authority.
