The Clinical Fellow will work in a highly supportive environment, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of treatments to patients at VCC, and wider service improvement. Radiotherapy development within VCC is overseen by the Radiotherapy Delivery Group (RDG), membership of which includes clinicians, medical physicists and radiographers. Participation in the RDG will be expected of the post holder.
As well as providing a clinical presence within the radiotherapy service the post holder will be expected to support other clinical activities of VCC including Acute Oncology Service, outpatient, radiotherapy planning and inpatient support. The Fellow will be expected to support the educational requirements of the multi-disciplinary workforce of VCC as it continues the clinical implementation of advanced radiotherapy techniques and other clinical, training and research improvement services.
This post is a fixed term/secondment for 12 months from start date to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post would suit a post-FRCR fellowship clinical oncology STR or equivalent with an interest in advanced radiotherapy techniques. Applications from pre-fellowship STRs will also be considered. The applicant will need to seek prospective approval from PMETB for an ‘out of programme research/experience’ before taking up the post. The post holder will be expected to develop his/her understanding of advanced radiotherapy, including advanced imaging for target volume definition, IMRT and PBT planning, internal organ motion and IGRT.
The postholder will join a team of StR’s and contribute to outpatient clinical care and inpatient ward care, including the Acute Oncology Service and admission assessment unit The postholder may opt to be included in rotational On-call for the Acute Oncology Service through day time hours and second non-resident on-call overnight.
The post will provide opportunities for experience in clinical trials research with Cis, trial recruitment, RTQA and early phase trials. The postholder will be expected to be involved in development in SRT , roll out to new sites, develop image based planning and adaptive treatment, non medical planning, training and QA.
