Job Summary
We are seeking a self-employed Trade Plate Driver to support vehicle transportation and logistics operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, experience in delivery or warehouse environments, and the ability to handle heavy lifting when necessary. This role offers flexibility for self-employment, allowing you to manage your own schedule while ensuring timely and safe vehicle movement across various locations.
Duties
- Operate trade plates and commercial vehicles to transport vehicles between locations efficiently and safely
- Ensure all vehicles are driven in accordance with legal and safety regulations
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles, including heavy lifting when required
- Maintain accurate records of journeys, vehicle movements, and delivery documentation
- Communicate effectively with clients, dispatch teams, and other stakeholders regarding schedules and vehicle status
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles prior to each journey to ensure roadworthiness
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols during vehicle handling and transportation
- Utilising Motorway alongside our bespoke system app to manage logistics and digital reporting.
- Using the Model app to conduct vehicle appraisals.
- Planning and navigating between jobs independently via public transport.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar driving role, preferably with trade plate or commercial vehicle experience
- Valid driver’s licence suitable for operating commercial vehicles (e.g., LGV or HGV licence is advantageous)
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently
- Knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations relevant to commercial driving
- Between 25 and 65 years old (due to fleet insurance restrictions).
- Valid UK driving licence (maximum 6 points for minor offences, no major convictions).
- Secure, off-road parking at your home address capable of accommodating large commercial vehicles (e.g., Ford Transit LWB or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter).
- Your own working smartphone with an active SIM card.
- Drivers must provide their own smart black trousers and black shoes to wear with the provided uniform.
