Year Manager – Secondary School
Dunbar Education is delighted to be working with a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Luton to recruit a Year Manager on a fixed-term maternity cover contract from September 2026 until the end of July 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pastoral professional who is passionate about supporting young people to thrive both academically and personally.
The Role
As Year Manager, you will work closely with the Key Stage Leader and Senior Year Manager to provide exceptional pastoral care and ensure students are supported throughout their school journey.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the welfare, attendance, behaviour and achievement of an allocated year group.
- Acting as a positive role model and building strong relationships with students.
- Supporting behaviour management across the school, including participation in the on-call system.
- Working with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure students receive appropriate support.
- Organising and supporting year group assemblies, rewards and celebration events.
- Coordinating student leadership opportunities.
- Supporting the smooth running of examinations alongside the Exams Officer.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Has experience working with secondary-aged students.
- Has strong pastoral, behaviour or student support experience.
- Can build positive and professional relationships with young people.
- Is organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Experience as a Year Manager, Pastoral Manager, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Inclusion Officer, Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant would be advantageous.
