Finance Intern

Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Intern, ideally a 2nd or 3rd year university student studying Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
This role offers hands-on experience across core accounting processes, providing exposure to day-to-day financial operations within a dynamic business environment. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced finance professionals and gain practical, real-world experience to support their academic learning. The role
Key Responsibilities
Learning & Development
- Shadow an experienced Accounts Assistant to gain practical insight into finance operations
- Develop an understanding of financial controls, systems, and processes
Bank & Cash Management
- Perform regular bank reconciliations
- Update and maintain the cash book to accurately reflect bank transaction activity
Accounts Payable Support
- Review supplier invoices for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with approval processes and follow up on outstanding approvals
- Maintain organised and accurate records within the accounts payable function
- Performan supplier statement reconciliation and investigate any discrepancies
Finance Mailbox Management
- Monitor the finance mailbox on a daily basis
- Act as the first point of contact for incoming queries
- Respond where appropriate and escalate queries to relevant team members
Stock Control
- Conduct daily stock cycle counts
- Assist in reconciling physical stock to system records
- Report discrepancies for further investigation
Project Support
- Support a focused finance review initiative involving historical transaction records
- Assist with organising and analysing financial documentation with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
Ad Hoc Duties
- Provide support on ad hoc finance tasks and projects
- Contribute to general process improvements and team objectives
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Currently studying (or entering final years of) a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Desirable:
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Previous administrative or finance-related experience (not essential)
