The Culford Sports Centre Duty Officer will oversee the day-to-day operations of the sports centre, ensuring the highest standards of customer service, facility maintenance, safety, and staff management. This role requires excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment. The Culford Sports Centre Duty Officer will ensure that all activities are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with the centre's goals.
Hours: Casual Contract
Salary: £15.07 per hour inclusive of holiday pay
Reports to: Head of Commercial & Transport
Key Responsibilities:
● Operational Management:
- When on shift in charge of the sports centre, ensuring smooth and efficient running of all activities.
- Ensure that facilities (gyms, sports halls, swimming pools, etc.) are well-maintained, clean, and in good working condition.
- Supervise and coordinate staff shifts, ensuring adequate coverage for all activities and services.
- Monitor bookings and ensure that the centre is running to schedule.
- Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional manner, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
- Support the school's Designated Premises Supervisor with setting up bars, staffing and movement of alcohol.
- Helping set up and run commercial events being held at the school.
- Attend monthly NPLQ training once qualified.
- Ensure sports centre vending machines are adequately stocked and managed.
- Order chemicals for pool plant and cleaning requirements.
● Health and Safety:
- Enforce health and safety procedures and protocols to ensure the safety of customers and staff at all times.
- Conduct regular safety checks of the facilities, equipment, and staff procedures.
- Ensure all activities comply with legal and health and safety regulations.
- Respond to emergencies, administer first aid when necessary, and manage emergency evacuation procedures.
● Staff Management:
- Supervise, train, and develop the team of part-time and casual staff, ensuring they are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
- Provide leadership and motivation to ensure staff are delivering excellent customer service.
- Conduct staff performance reviews and provide feedback to improve performance and ensure team development.
● Customer Service:
- Ensure all customer service standards are met and exceed expectations.
- Handle customer complaints, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
- Engage with customers to promote centre programs, services, and special events.
● Financial Management:
- Monitor daily financial transactions, including cash handling, card payments, and invoicing.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports as needed and ensure adherence to budget guidelines.
- Perform regular stocktakes.
● Administration:
- Maintain accurate records for bookings, incidents, and staff attendance.
- Assist in managing online booking systems, memberships, and any promotional activities.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
● Experience:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within a leisure, sports, or customer service environment.
- Experience in staff management and operations in a fast-paced environment.
- At least six months experience in a supervisory or management role within a leisure or customer facing environment.
● Skills:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Good knowledge of health and safety standards in a sports setting.
- IT literate, with experience in booking systems and basic financial management.
● Qualifications:
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Pool Lifeguard qualification (desired, or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a sports facility.
You may be required to work such additional hours as the School considers necessary to fulfil operational needs. Hours of work may be subject to change following consultation.
