ROLE
We are looking for a motivated Junior Buyer to join our purchasing team. Reporting to the Procurement Team Leader, you will assist in end-to-end procurement activities, ensuring materials and components are obtained efficiently and cost-effectively to meet production schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement:
Process purchase orders (POs) for raw materials and components in line with MRP requirements
Support with the purchasing of indirect supplies as required throughout the business
Supplier Management:
Manage a group of low-volume suppliers, providing forecasts and conducting regular orderbook reviews
Develop and maintain good supplier relationships
Occasional travel to supplier sites may be required
Negotiation:
Support the negotiation of pricing, contracts, and commercial terms to achieve cost savings
Data Management:
Maintain accurate data within ERP/MRP systems
Assist the Operations Buyers with general administration
Coordination:
Collaborate with Production, Quality, Finance, and Planning teams to resolve supply issues
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Previous experience in a buying or purchasing role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Good understanding of general procurement processes (RFQs, supplier management).
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Have analytical skills with proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with ERP / MRP systems.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Highly organized, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a willingness to learn.
