Description
We are seeking an experienced and organised Bookkeeping Manager to oversee a small remote team and ensure the accurate and timely delivery of bookkeeping services. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage both client relationships and internal workflows effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage a small remote bookkeeping team, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to deadlines.
Review and maintain accurate financial records using Xero accounting software.
Oversee the preparation of VAT returns, ensuring all submissions are accurate, complete, and compliant with HMRC regulations.
Review VAT workings and ensure correct VAT treatment is applied across all transactions.
Manage and oversee CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) processes, including deductions and filings.
Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Act as the main point of contact for clients, handling queries and providing financial insights.
Ensure all work is completed in line with internal processes and regulatory standards.
Support team development, training, and performance management.
Identify and implement improvements to processes and efficiencies.
Key Requirements
Proven experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role, ideally in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
Strong working knowledge of:
Xero
VAT returns and HMRC compliance
CIS regulations
Balance sheet reconciliations
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
Ability to manage and motivate a remote team.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team.
Proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
Additional Requirements
AAT qualified or equivalent.
Experience working in a practice environment.
Familiarity with additional accounting software or apps.
