Tractor Driver / Sports Turf Operative

Talbot Landscapes Ltd is an award-winning, commercial, family-run contractor based in Derby. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, we are seeking an experienced Tractor Driver / Sports Turf Operative to join our expanding team, delivering sports field and turf renovation projects across the UK.
This role is ideally suited to a groundcare professional with proven experience in sports turf renovation and tractor operations, who takes pride in delivering high-performance playing surfaces.
The Role
You will be responsible for operating tractors and specialist turf equipment on sports field renovation and improvement projects nationwide.
Sports Turf & Machinery Duties:
- Operating tractors and mounted/trailed turf equipment
- Carrying out sports field renovations including:
- Aeration (Verti-Drain / deep-tine)
- Overseeding
- Topdressing
- Power harrowing and cultivation
- Surface preparation and levelling
- Establishment and restoration of natural turf surfaces
- Setting up and calibrating machinery to specification
- Ensuring safe operation, daily checks, and basic maintenance of equipment
- Working in line with Health & Safety and site regulations
You will also support wider site operations where required to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
This is a physically demanding role carried out outdoors in all weather conditions. Working away from home will be required when projects demand.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
- Has proven experience in sports turf renovation works
- Has strong tractor operating skills within a groundcare environment
- Understands turf establishment, soil profiles, and surface preparation
- Demonstrates mechanical awareness and takes care of machinery
- Works well within a professional site team
- Maintains high standards of quality and safety
- Is punctual, dependable, and professional
Essential:
- Full UK driving licence
- Demonstrable tractor operating experience within sports turf or groundcare
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Desirable:
- PA1/PA6 spraying certificates
- Lantra or equivalent machinery tickets
- CPCS or NPORS plant operator certification
- Experience working on professional sports facilities or commercial sites
- CSCS Card
- Towing licence (if applicable)
