Job Description: Dual Site Sous Chef
Sous Chef
Competitive Salary
The Opportunity
We’re a proud, family-run hospitality group with two genuinely exciting venues, and we’re looking for a talented, organised, and passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen leadership team across both sites.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef, or a strong Senior Chef de Partie ready to take the next step, who thrives in fast-paced fresh food kitchens and enjoys leading by example. Working closely with the Head Chef and wider management team, you'll help oversee the day-to-day running of both kitchens, maintain exceptional food standards, develop the team, and play a key role in the continued growth of our business.
Let’s be honest, hospitality is tough right now. But we’re growing. While others are slowing down, we’re opening new venues, investing in our people, and building something long-term with a management team that actually stays. Low turnover, experienced leadership, and a clear sense of direction across all our sites means you’ll be joining a business where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.
If you're passionate about fresh food, enjoy developing others, and want to build your career within an ambitious and supportive company, we'd love to hear from you.
Site One: The Waterfront
The Waterfront is our exciting new venue, a relaxed café-bistro by day with a vibrant tapas-style atmosphere in the evenings. Light, modern, seasonal, and full of potential, this is a brilliant opportunity to help shape an exciting kitchen from the ground up.
What you'll be cooking:
- Fresh brunch and café dishes made with seasonal ingredients
- Modern bistro-style plates with a focus on quality produce
- Creative sharing dishes and tapas-style evening menus
- Regularly changing menus inspired by the seasons
Site Two: The Nelson
The Nelson is a much-loved country-style pub at the heart of the local community. Think roaring fires, busy weekends, packed festive periods, and proper pub food done exceptionally well.
What you'll be cooking:
- Traditional pub classics cooked fresh and properly
- Seasonal dishes using the best local ingredients
- Festive menus and busy Christmas services
- Comfort food with attention to detail and consistency
The Role
As Sous Chef, you'll be a key member of the kitchen leadership team, supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of both kitchens. You'll lead services with confidence, ensure consistently high standards, help develop the brigade, and take ownership of kitchen operations whenever the Head Chef is away.
This is a hands-on leadership role, perfect for someone who enjoys mentoring others, driving standards, and contributing to the success of a growing hospitality business.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Head Chef with the daily management of both kitchens
- Leading kitchen services and ensuring smooth, efficient operations
- Taking responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
- Preparing and cooking high-quality dishes to company standards
- Supervising, motivating, and developing the kitchen team
- Training and mentoring junior chefs and kitchen assistants
- Maintaining consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Assisting with menu development, seasonal changes, and daily specials
- Managing stock levels, ordering, stock rotation, and minimising wastage
- Ensuring all food safety, HACCP, cleanliness, and hygiene standards are maintained
- Monitoring labour and kitchen efficiency to support business performance
- Helping create a positive, professional, and supportive kitchen culture
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an experienced Senior Chef de Partie ready to step up
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop others
- Passion for fresh, seasonal cooking
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Calm and confident under pressure during busy services
- High standards of food quality and presentation
- Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and kitchen compliance
- Ability to work across two venues with flexibility
- A proactive, positive attitude and genuine team-first mentality
- Someone who leads by example and takes pride in delivering exceptional food and service
Why Join Us?
- A growing family-run business with exciting expansion plans
- Stable management team and supportive leadership
- Opportunity to work across two very different kitchens
- Genuine progression opportunities as the business continues to grow
- Creative input into menus, specials, and seasonal dishes
- Competitive salary and a positive working environment
- The chance to make a real impact within a business that values its people
