About the Home
We are seeking an experienced Responsible Individual (RI) to join us ahead of opening, helping with the registration and shape the leadership team and recruit a Registered Manager who shares our vision.
Role Overview
The Responsible Individual will play a critical role in ensuring the home meets and exceeds Ofsted standards, overseeing compliance, safeguarding, and quality of care. You will mentor and guide the management team, support the pre-opening phase, and help embed a therapeutic, nurturing culture across the service.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
- Oversee compliance with Ofsted regulations and statutory requirements
- Ensure safeguarding practices and standards of care remain exceptional
- Assist in the overall management of the home to ensure smooth operation
Pre-Opening Support
- Registration process
- Support recruitment and selection of the Registered Manager
- Help shape the leadership structure and organisational culture
- Contribute to company growth strategy and future home development
Mentoring & Supervision
- Provide ongoing guidance and mentorship to the Registered Manager
- Conduct supervisions for senior staff, ensuring development and compliance
- Offer leadership, feedback, and professional support to the management team
Monitoring & Quality Assurance
- Conduct regular visits, audits, and compliance checks
- Monitor outcomes for young people, ensuring their welfare is central to decisions
- Hold weekly check-ins with directors and the Registered Manager to review progress and strategy
Essential Requirements
- Recent experience as a Children’s Home Responsible Individual or Registered Manager
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, inspection frameworks, and compliance standards
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
- Passion for creating safe, nurturing environments for children and young people
