Support Worker / Personal Assistant – Permanent Position
We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and trustworthy individual to support a 41-year-old gentleman with a C4/C5 spinal cord injury, living independently in his own home. You would be joining a small, friendly team already providing 24-hour, 2:1 support full time.
The role involves assisting with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, mobility, travel, and work commitments. The individual has a high-level spinal cord injury following a sporting accident, but lives a very active and varied life.
Your day-to-day can vary, from attending charity events in London, to quieter days at home. Regular involvement with his charity supporting young people seriously injured through sport is a significant part of his routine. No day is the same and the ability to adapt to each day is essential.
Previous care experience is beneficial, however not essential as full training will be provided for the right person. What matters most is the ability to have empathy, emotional intelligence for his situation, those around him and be able to promote dignity and independence. A caring attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn is crucial.
Your key responsibilities will consist of, but are not limited to the below:-
Key Responsibilities
- Personal care and daily living support
- Supporting travel, work, and social activities
- Working as part of a 2:1 support team at all times
- Providing care within the individual’s home and community
Experience (Desirable but Not Essential – Full Training Provided)
- Spinal cord injuries
- Ventilator care
- Tracheostomy care
- Suprapubic catheter care
- Bowel management
- Moving and handling

Pay Rates
- Day shifts (08:00 – 22:00): £14.52 per hour
- Sleeping nights (22:00 – 08:00): £12.71 per hour
- Shadowing - Paid in line with current national minimum wage
Requirements
- Proficiency in English
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Own transport is essential (due to rural location)
- Willingness to provide annual leave cover where possible
