Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support in our small beautiful children's nursery in Epping Highstreet. The Role is Monday - Friday 9am - 2.30 pm perfect if you have children at school. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about catering, cooking, and food preparation, supporting our Children who attends Ellie's Nursery with a nutritional balanced foods inline with the new Early Years nutrition and a Knowledge of Food safety and hygiene standards. The successful candidate will assist with meal preparation and ensure the smooth operation of kitchen activities in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Support the catering team in setting up and clearing workstations before and after service
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen areas, including utensils, appliances, and work surfaces
- Follow food safety protocols to ensure hygiene standards are met at all times
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages
- Support the team during busy periods
Experience
- Previous experience in kitchen environment is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling
- Familiarity with meal preparation, food presentation, and basic cooking techniques
- Experience working in a fast-paced setting with attention to detail and organisation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a positive attitude towards learning new skills
