Job Title: Senior Residential Support Worker
Location: Ullswater Children’s Home – Bradford (1 bed home)
Hours: 40.5 hours per week
Salary: £31,675- £35,425 (depending on experience and qualifications) *
Earnings: £36,850 - £40,600(based on 10 sleep ins per month)
Shift Pattern: 2 shifts on, 4 shifts off
Shift start times: 7:45am to 11pm followed by a sleep in
Annual Leave Entitlement: 251.1 hours
Essential criteria: Driving licence, 12 months+ experience working specifically in a residential home for children

The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Residential Support Worker to join our dedicated team at Ullswater Children’s Home. This role is perfect for someone with at least 12 months’ experience in a children’s residential home, who is passionate about making a real impact. Working alongside an experienced and supportive management team, you’ll play a key role in creating a positive, nurturing home environment where young people feel safe, supported, and empowered.
Key Responsibilities
- Support young people in a range of activities, including cooking, cleaning, outings, and taking part in games and appointments.
- Manage challenging behaviours effectively and professionally, with support from senior staff and therapeutic services.
- Create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for young people, ensuring they feel heard and valued.
- Collaborate with psychologists and the therapy team to establish appropriate boundaries and strategies for supporting the children in your care.
What We’re Looking For:
- A genuine passion for safeguarding, motivating, and inspiring young people.
- Ability to demonstrate and lead by example, sharing best practices with your team.
- Experience with challenging behaviour, with the ability to handle such situations calmly and professionally.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
- Experience of working in a residential home for children is essential for the role (minimum of 12 months experience) having a relevant qualification is advantageous, although not essential.
