Job Title: Senior Support Worker / Team Leader – Residential Childcare
Salary: £15.00 per hour (£31,200 per annum)
Sleep-in Rate: £60 per sleep-in
Location: Sutton Coldfield
Hours: Full-time, rota-based (including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins)
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Support Worker / Team Leader to play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of a residential children’s home. You will lead shifts, support staff, and help ensure children and young people receive consistent, high-quality care in a safe and nurturing environment.
This role is ideal for an experienced Residential Support Worker ready to take the next step into leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and act as Team Leader on duty, ensuring the smooth running of the home
- Support and supervise Residential Support Workers during shifts
- Provide direct care and positive role modelling to children and young people
- Implement and review care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans
- Maintain accurate and timely recording, including daily logs and incident reports
- Support safeguarding practices and ensure policies and procedures are followed
- Promote a safe, structured, and child-centred environment
- Support new staff through induction and mentoring
- Work closely with the Deputy Manager and Registered Manager to maintain high standards of care
- Respond appropriately to incidents, challenging behaviour, and safeguarding concerns
Essential Requirements
- Experience working in residential childcare
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or working towards
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Experience leading shifts or supporting staff on duty
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Senior Support Worker or Team Leader
- Experience supporting children with EBD, trauma, or complex needs
- Level 4 or working towards leadership qualifications
