Job Overview
Speciality Breads is looking for a detail-focused Specifications Technologist to join our Technical / QA team. This role is key to ensuring our retailer specifications, supplier approvals, raw material information and technical documentation are accurate, compliant and maintained to the highest standard.
The successful candidate will support the business in delivering safe, legal, authentic and high-quality products by managing retailer portals, supplier and raw material approvals, risk assessments, artwork approvals, traceability requests and general technical enquiries.
Key Responsibilities
· Complete and maintain retailer specifications and portals within required customer timescales.
· Manage supplier approval processes, including supplier risk assessments, approval records and ongoing reviews ensuring compliance with BRCGS and customer requirements.
· Manage raw material approvals, including specification checks, risk assessments and approval documentation ensuring compliance with BRCGS and customer requirements.
· Raise, issue and follow up supplier non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are recorded and progressed.
· Complete supplier traceability exercises and support supplier information requests and investigations.
· Review and approve artwork to ensure technical, legal, customer and specification requirements are accurately reflected.
· Assist with internal audits in line with the audit schedule and support completion of agreed actions.
· Respond to technical enquiries from internal teams, customers and suppliers in a timely and professional manner.
What we are looking for
· Experience working within a food manufacturing environment.
· Strong understanding of food labelling regulations and retailer requirements
· Confident working with retailer portals and specifications is essential.
· Good organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload.
· Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage accurate technical information and documentation.
· Clear and professional communication skills when dealing with internal teams, customers and suppliers.
· A positive, proactive approach to problem solving, follow-up actions and continuous improvement.
