Job description
Kelly’s of Bodmin is looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking Ice Cream Van Driver to join our team in Cornwall. This is a customer-facing role ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, meeting people and delivering excellent service in local communities.
As an Ice Cream Van Driver, you will be responsible for safely driving one of our vans, serving customers, handling cash and card payments, keeping the van clean and stocked, and representing the Kelly’s brand in a professional and positive way.
Key responsibilities
- Drive and operate an ice cream van safely across designated routes in Cornwall
- Serve ice cream and other products to customers quickly and politely
- Provide excellent customer service at all times
- Handle cash and card payments accurately
- Restock products and monitor stock levels during shifts
- Carry out basic daily vehicle checks and report any issues promptly
- Keep the van clean, tidy and fully presentable
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures
- Set up and close down the van each day as required
- Work flexibly, including weekends, bank holidays and busy seasonal periods
Requirements
- Must be 21 or over
- Full UK clean driving licence
- Must be able to provide valid proof of identity and right to work in the UK, such as a passport or birth certificate
- Confident and safe driver
- Friendly, approachable and professional manner
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
- Comfortable handling cash and using card payment systems
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment during busy periods
- Previous experience in driving, retail, hospitality or food service is helpful but not essential
Desirable
- Knowledge of Cornwall and local routes
- Previous experience working in a customer-facing role
- Basic food hygiene knowledge or certificate
