Ascott Transport Limited (ATL) is a family-owned haulage business with a rapidly growing fleet and a reputation for keeping wheels turning. We support some of the UK’s best-known names across food, engineering and automotive, making sure deliveries happen safely, compliantly and on time.
Quality is central to how we operate. From driver standards and vehicle presentation to safety, compliance and customer expectations, we know that consistency on the road makes all the difference. Our drivers are at the heart of that operation, and we’re now looking for a full-time HGV/LGV Driver Assessor to help strengthen our internal assessment capability and support continuous improvement across the fleet.
This role is about more than completing assessments. You’ll play a key part in maintaining and improving driver quality standards, identifying coaching needs, supporting safe and professional driving behaviours, and making sure our drivers represent ATL to the highest standard every time they are on the road.
You’ll be responsible for carrying out driver assessments, onboarding checks, refresher reviews, post-incident assessments and practical coaching across Category C and C+E vehicles. Working closely with our transport and compliance teams, you’ll help ensure our drivers are safe, confident, compliant and aligned with the standards our customers expect.
We’re looking for someone with:
Category C and C+E licence entitlement
Experience assessing, coaching, mentoring or training HGV/LGV drivers
Strong knowledge of road safety, driver compliance and vehicle standards
A clear understanding of what good looks like in professional driving
A fair, consistent and practical approach to assessment
The confidence to provide constructive feedback and support driver improvement
Good communication and record-keeping skills
A professional approach when working with drivers, managers and operational teams
NRI qualification or equivalent desirable
This is a great opportunity for an experienced HGV/LGV professional to step into a dedicated assessor role and make a visible impact on driver standards, safety, compliance and operational quality.
We offer a competitive and well-rounded benefits package designed to support you on and off the job, including:
Free on-site parking
Comprehensive Health & Wellbeing package
Life Assurance cover
Generous holiday entitlement of 30 days per year
Refer-a-Friend scheme with a £500 bonus
Full uniform provided
Overtime opportunities available in line with operational requirements
If you’re confident behind the wheel, credible with drivers and passionate about raising standards, we’d like to hear from you.
