Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Playwork Manager to join our Our School-aged Childcare team. We are based on the site of St.Mary’s Primary School, Melmount Rd, Strabane.
We offer breakfast club (7.45-8.45) and Afterschool playcare (1-6pm) during school term time and then holiday scheme (8am – 6pm) during school holidays.
The suitable candidate will manage the daily routine within our club, ensuring a safe and fun play environment for all children. This position requires strong leadership skills, effective communication abilities, and a passion for children’s play.
Duties
- Manage the daily activities, ensuring compliance with health & safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children to foster a positive partnership to providing a positive play atmosphere which is high quality, accessible and inclusive
- Drive initiatives that promote the development of children through engaging activities and programmes.
- Oversee staff performance, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills in play, childcare and management .
- Ensure that all children receive appropriate care and attention, catering to their individual needs.
- Communicate daily with parents and guardians of play club users.
- Collaborate with the directors, and staff to implement policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Qualifications in level 5 play and playwork/ childcare or equivalent (level 3 may be accepted, provided on appointment the candidate agrees to immediately commence level 5 qualification)
- Previous experience in a leadership role within a childcare or nursery setting is essential.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to interact with diverse audiences.
- Experience working with children, demonstrating an understanding of their play and developmental needs.
- A genuine passion for nurturing young minds and fostering their growth in a supportive play and care environment.
