Salary: Pay scale dependent on service (£13.85 - £14.15 per hour, with enhanced overtime)

Role Summary
As a Waking Night Support Worker at Inspire Sussex, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing and comfort of adults with learning disabilities throughout the night. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide person-centred support, respond to individual needs, promote independence where appropriate, and help maintain a safe, calm and supportive environment. Depending on service needs, you may support individuals with mild learning disabilities, those with moderate support needs, or people with complex and profound disabilities requiring overnight assistance and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support throughout the night in line with individual care and support plans.
- Conduct regular welfare checks and respond promptly to the needs of the people you support.
- Assist with personal care, continence care, repositioning, mobility support and other overnight requirements.
- Administer or support with medication in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe, secure and comfortable environment, ensuring health and safety standards are met.
- Complete accurate records, incident reports and handover documentation.
- Monitor and report any changes in health, behaviour or wellbeing to senior staff.
- Undertake light housekeeping duties as required to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
- Promote dignity, privacy, choice and independence at all times.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to positive outcomes for the people you support.
- Participate in team meetings, training and ongoing professional development.
Person SpecificationEssential
- A compassionate, patient and respectful approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently during night shifts and remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to stay alert, attentive and responsive throughout the shift.
- Commitment to person-centred values, dignity, respect and safeguarding.
- Reliable, flexible and able to work waking night shifts on a rota basis.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a social care, support worker or waking night role.
- Health & Social Care qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent).
- Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs or complex care needs.
- Knowledge of medication administration, safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
