We’re looking for an enthusiastic Chef or Cook to join our growing catering team at The Olive Tree Restaurant & Green & Wild based within Pyle Garden Centre. Whether you’re an experienced chef ready to take on more responsibility or a skilled cook looking for a stable and rewarding kitchen role, we’d love to hear from you.
The role can be shaped around experience level, with opportunities available for both:
- Chef positions – with leadership responsibilities, menu input and kitchen supervision
- Cook positions – focused on food preparation, service and maintaining high standards within the kitchen team
Working Hours:
- Minimum 20–30 hours per week
- Flexible shift patterns between: Monday–Sunday | 7am–5pm
- Overtime available during busy seasonal periods
About the Role:
You’ll support the day-to-day running of the kitchen across both venues, helping deliver consistently high-quality food in a busy but supportive environment. Depending on experience, you may also help supervise junior team members, contribute to menu ideas and specials and assist with stock control and kitchen organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present fresh dishes to high standards
- Support smooth kitchen operations during service
- Assist with kitchen opening and closing procedures
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Work closely with front of house and management teams
- Help with stock rotation and minimising waste
- Contribute ideas for specials and seasonal menus
- Support and encourage junior kitchen staff where appropriate
What We’re Looking For:
We welcome applications from both experienced chefs and capable cooks who enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Essential:
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen
- In depth understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Food Hygiene Level 2
Desirable:
- Supervisory or leadership experience
- Food Hygiene Level 3
- Menu planning or specials experience
- Knowledge of HACCP and allergen procedures
- Catering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)

Pay: £12.71-£13.74 per hour

Licence/Certification:
