We are seeking an experienced and proactive Solar Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of commercial, industrial and utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage projects from initial handover through to final commissioning.
The Solar Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating and managing all aspects of project delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This role is ideally suited to a qualified electrician who has progressed into project management and possesses a strong understanding of electrical installation, testing, commissioning and renewable energy systems. The successful candidate will be comfortable working between the office, customer sites and installation teams, providing both technical leadership and project oversight. Their electrical expertise will enable them to confidently review designs, troubleshoot site issues, ensure compliance with industry standards and support installation and commissioning activities when required.
This role requires strong technical understanding, commercial awareness, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
Project Delivery
- Manage multiple solar PV and battery storage projects simultaneously.
- Develop and maintain project programmes and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
- Monitor project progress and proactively manage risks and issues.
- Oversee project handover from sales through to commissioning and client acceptance.
Commercial Management
- Track project costs, budgets and profitability.
- Manage project variations and change requests.
- Review supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Support procurement activities and equipment ordering.
- Ensure accurate project forecasting and reporting.
Technical Coordination
- Liaise with design engineers and installation teams.
- Review project designs and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with electrical, structural and grid connection requirements.
- Coordinate DNO applications and approvals where required.
- Support commissioning and testing activities.
- Ensure project documentation is maintained throughout delivery.
Health & Safety
- Promote a strong health and safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and site safety requirements.
- Review RAMS, permits and safety documentation.
- Conduct site visits and inspections.
- Investigate and report incidents where necessary.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during delivery.
- Manage customer expectations and communications.
- Chair project meetings and provide progress updates.
- Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Reporting
- Produce weekly and monthly project reports.
- Track key project milestones and KPIs.
- Report project performance to senior management.
- Maintain project records and documentation.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing solar PV projects.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies.
- Experience delivering commercial and industrial solar projects.
- Knowledge of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Strong commercial and budget management experience.
- Experience managing subcontractors and site teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong stakeholder and client management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Prince2, APM or equivalent Project Management qualification.
- Electrical qualification or engineering background.
- Knowledge of DNO application processes.
- Understanding of G99, G100 and grid connection requirements.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
- Experience delivering battery storage projects.
- Experience within off-grid or hybrid renewable systems.

Pay: £45.00-£60.00 per hour
