Independent Travel Trainer SEND
Home/community based in the London borough of BRENT with occasional visits to office in Kingston.
Full Training will be provided via an accredited Level 2 Travel Trainer course.
This is an exciting opportunity for an Independent Travel Trainer to train young people with additional needs to learn to travel independently using public transport - buses, trains and the underground - across the London borough of Brent. Teaching SEND pupils road safety, building confidence and social skills.
This role can be full or part time depending on the individual.
This role may also suit someone looking to work AM & PM hours, training SEND children to travel independently on the morning and afternoon school run.

The role involves flexible working with some early morning starts and occasional evenings. You will develop and deliver tailored travel plans promoting safety and wellbeing and confidence.
Job Purpose:
To provide support and training for children with special educational needs to enable them to travel more independently to and from school or college, while ensuring their safety and wellbeing during their training. Working closely with SENCO's and Travel Assistance officers.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- To promote the Travel Training programme to local schools and colleges with the SEND Manager and CEO, raising awareness and creating a positive perception of this opportunity.
- To assess the needs of prospective trainees. This may involve consulting with any relevant parent/carers and support workers, before deciding upon the most appropriate person-centred travel training plan.
- To work with parents/carers to implement the travel training programme.
- To keep detailed and accurate records of the service provided.
- Write full reports which detail student progress.
- Celebrate and promote the success stories.
- To understand both Councils duties and responsibilities for safeguarding children, young people adults as they apply to the role within the council.

Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with Salesforce and SharePoint platforms
- Demonstrated mentoring abilities and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively engage and support diverse groups in travel-related contexts
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 18 months
Pay: Up to £16.80 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 35 per week
