We are working closely with a well-established UK SaaS business operating at scale, serving enterprise customers across regulated industries worldwide. Their newly formed Platform Engineering Group (2 x teams of 3+, serving a larger Engineering function of 50+ globally, across 3 main product streams!) is building the
internal developer platform that engineering teams rely on to build, ship, and run their software and they are looking for a
Platform focused Software Engineer to help shape it from the inside.
Location: UK, fully remote (occasional team days in London HQ). Salary: £80,000 to £85,000 depending on experience, plus 10% bonus and an extensive benefits package. Contract type: permanent.
Job title: Platform Software Engineer. Some other titles that may suit: Software Engineer, Platform. Developer Experience Engineer. Software Engineer - Developer tooling.
-
Designing and building internal developer tooling, templates, and scaffolding that make the right way to build software the easy way.
-
Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines that are reliable, observable, and a pleasure to work with.
-
Owning IaC for the platform layer - writing production-grade infrastructure code rather than clicking through consoles.
-
Collaborating directly with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to understand pain points and deliver tooling that genuinely moves the needle.
-
Setting patterns and standards that other engineers will build on - treating developer experience as a product with internal teams as your users.
-
Strong software engineering foundations with real depth in at least one language and considered views on testing - unit, integration, and contract as a first-class part of shipping software (Any language: Java, C#, Go, Python, Typescript / JavaScript)
-
Hands-on experience designing and building CI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitHub Actions, and a track record of building tooling or automation that other engineers depend on.
-
Experience with IaC: Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or CDK and comfortable running containerised workloads in production. To be clear: this is NOT a traditional "DevOps" role! (Some elements, but we have whole other teams for this)
-
AWS experience is a strong plus, as is exposure to continuous release practices and progressive delivery.
You will be in at the start - a pattern-setting role in a newly formed group, with real influence over how a global SaaS engineering organisation builds and ships software.-
A benefits package built around looking after people: private health insurance, income protection, life assurance, subsidised gym, pension, 25 days holiday plus your birthday off.
-
A culture that backs continuous improvement. If you can see a better way to do something, you will be encouraged to say so and given the space to make it happen.
If you are a software engineer who wants to make a real difference to how engineering teams work, we would love to hear from you. Apply now with your CV or professional profile.
