A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small friendly team at the Southwoods Nursing Home. We are looking for a talented care assistant assistant to join our home whom is keen and eager to progress. We are a nursing home supporting adults with mental illness. We pride ourselves in helping people to stay well and live a fulfilling life.
Your Responsibilities
Purpose of the Role
To provide a high-quality laundry service that ensures residents always have clean, fresh, correctly labelled clothing and linen, while maintaining excellent infection prevention standards and contributing to a safe, welcoming environment.
Resident Care
- Treat residents with dignity, respect and compassion at all times.
- Respect residents' personal belongings and clothing.
- Ensure clothing is returned promptly to the correct resident.
- Handle residents' possessions with care and attention.
- Support residents' comfort by ensuring clothing and bedding are clean and available.
Laundry Duties
- Wash, dry, iron and fold residents' clothing and home linen.
- Separate laundry according to infection control guidance.
- Follow care labels and manufacturer's instructions.
- Ensure all clothing is correctly labelled.
- Organise and store clean laundry neatly.
- Report damaged, missing or unlabelled clothing.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of linen and laundry supplies.
Infection Prevention & Control
- Follow all infection prevention and control procedures.
- Use PPE appropriately.
- Separate clean and dirty laundry at all times.
- Safely manage contaminated or infectious laundry.
- Maintain excellent hand hygiene.
- Clean and disinfect laundry equipment regularly.
- Dispose of waste safely and appropriately.
Equipment & Environment
- Operate washing machines, dryers and ironing equipment safely.
- Carry out routine cleaning of laundry equipment.
- Report faults or maintenance issues promptly.
- Keep the laundry room clean, tidy and organised.
- Store chemicals safely in accordance with COSHH guidance.
