The Supply Room are working with a Specialist Secondary School (behaviour) in Hammersmith to recruit a resilient and dedicated Youth Worker.
This is a highly rewarding role, ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils who face significant barriers to education, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and behavioural challenges.
The role:
- Provide individual (1:1) support to assigned pupils throughout the school day.
- Assist in delivering lessons to small classes (4–6 pupils).
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using appropriate strategies.
- Support pupils with their academic, emotional and social development.
- Work closely with teachers and senior staff to implement behaviour support plans.
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and independence.
- Maintain a safe and structured learning environment.
- Record and report on pupil progress and behaviour.
Requirements:
- Experience working with young people in a secondary school, ideally in a PRU, SEN or alternative provision setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with challenging pupils.
- Resilience and confidence in handling high-needs behaviour.
- Team player with good communication skills.

- Be punctual, reliable and flexible, adapting to the needs of the school.
- Follow instructions from teachers, Inclusion team and senior leadership.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
- To be able to fulfil the aforementioned hours (term time only).
Desirable:
- Deescalation and positive restrain training such as Team Teach, MAPA, NAPPI.
