Join the Academic Skills (ASk) team at the University of Chester and help students build the confidence and capabilities they need to succeed in their studies, and beyond. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative learning developer to deliver inclusive academic skills support through in-curricular teaching, workshops, one-to-one guidance, and engaging digital resources.
The team includes specialists in both Academic Skills and Maths and Statistics. We work collaboratively with colleagues from across the University – including course teams and professional services – to embed academic skills development into the student experience. You’ll also contribute to innovative projects like ASk’s award-winning The Skills Pod podcast, helping to shape a dynamic and equitable learning environment.
You’ll bring experience of supporting learning in HE or advanced FE, strong communication and digital skills, and a commitment to inclusive, student-centred practice. A postgraduate qualification and teaching experience are desirable. The role involves both remote and on-campus working, with opportunities to engage with a wide range of students and colleagues across all University of Chester sites. Flexibility and a willingness to travel between campuses are essential.
This is a full time role (36.5 hours), offered on a fixed-term basis for six months to cover maternity leave. We’re happy to explore flexible working patterns, as long as they meet the needs of the role and team. We welcome applications from candidates who reflect the diversity of our student body, particularly men, and those from Black and minority ethnic communities.
