Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Chef (all levels considered) to join our small team. The Forbes Arms Hotel is a family owned and run hotel at the Bridge of Alford, Aberdeenshire. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in food preparation and a desire to develop their skills in a fast-paced kitchen environment. You will assist in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that food production meets high standards of quality and safety. This role is perfect for someone looking to advance their culinary career within the hospitality industry. We offer a range of shifts, 4 / 5 working days a per week.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and standards.
- Supervise kitchen staff during food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring efficient workflow.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
- Collaborate with senior chefs to plan menus and develop new dishes.
- Manage inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained properly.
- Participate in training new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety protocols.
- Support team management by fostering a positive working environment within the kitchen.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting is preferred but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food production.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating leadership skills when supervising others.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy kitchen environment.
- A genuine passion for culinary arts and a willingness to learn from experienced chefs.
- Good communication skills to effectively interact with team members and management.
