We are looking for a motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to support the leadership and day-to-day management of our children's residential home. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious childcare professional who is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children and young people while developing their leadership career within residential care.
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will help ensure the home operates in line with regulatory requirements, company policies, and best practice standards, providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where young people can thrive.
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- 9:00am – 5:00pm
- Full-Time, Permanent
- Occasional flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the service, including participation in the on-call rota
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the overall operation and leadership of the home.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, safeguarding requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Lead, supervise, and support the residential team to deliver high-quality care and positive outcomes for young people.
- Monitor and review care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans.
- Participate in staff recruitment, induction, supervision, and performance management.
- Support the development and implementation of therapeutic and child-centred care practices.
- Maintain effective partnerships with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and families.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping, reporting, and administration in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in preparing for and responding to inspections and audits.
- Promote a positive culture that prioritises safeguarding, wellbeing, and development for both young people and staff.
Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) essential.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards) desirable.
- Significant experience working within a children's residential care setting.
- Previous experience in a senior or leadership role within residential childcare.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, children's legislation, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop staff teams.
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
