Abatec is currently recruiting for both Trainee/Skilled Highways Operatives on behalf of a leading Highways provider based in and around the Cirencester area. This is a full-time, hands-on role offering long-term opportunities, full training, and clear progression prospects.
The role would suit candidates with previous experience in groundwork's, construction, landscaping, or tree surgery, as many of the skills gained in these environments are highly transferable.
Please note own Transport and UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What we’re looking for:
- Full UK driving licence & own car (essential).
- Experience in highways, Labouring, or outdoor work.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow safety procedures.
- Beneficial but not essential: Traffic Management and Street Works Tickets

What you’ll be doing:
- Roadway’s maintenance including pothole repairs, tarmacking, landscaping, gully cleaning, hedge cutting, curb maintenance amongst other duties.
- Safely loading vehicles with required traffic management equipment
- Gritting roads during winter and responding to emergency works.
- Performing daily vehicle inspections
- Using Hand Tools
