We are looking for an Experienced Gardener for our Estate near Yeovil in Somerset. The Estate comprises over 4000 acres of arable land and woodland, along with 25 acres of formal gardens and lawns, a walled kitchen garden, a large glasshouse and a substantial lake.
The formal garden is acknowledged as one of the finest gardens in the area. An exciting opportunity has now arisen to join the team in the role of Gardener. You will be an experienced full-time gardener that can cut lawns, tend borders, cut hedges and carry out maintenance around the Estate.
The right candidate is expected to have excellent knowledge of maintaining plant beds and water features in order that they look their best and flourish well across the season, as well as greenhouse plant propagation, kitchen garden vegetables, herbs and cutting flowers for the house.
The successful candidate will need to have a keen eye for detail and the ability to work consistently to the highest standards. An interest in and knowledge of the history of estate gardens is important.·
The successful candidate will be an effective communicator.
- Proven experience in a groundskeeping, greenkeeping, or general estate maintenance role
- Hands-on experience operating a wide range of groundskeeping machinery and equipment
- Previous work on high-end estates, luxury properties
- Possession of relevant groundskeeping or horticultural certifications / qualifications
- A genuine pride in delivering immaculate results and maintaining exceptionally high standards
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and work independently
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics
- Experience overseeing a small team, however this is desirable
- A full UK driving licence
