Tempest Education is working in partnership with a highly supportive special educational needs (SEN) school in Grantham to recruit a passionate and resilient Teaching Assistant for their Provision.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with a range of complex needs, helping them to overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve meaningful progress both academically and personally.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism, and/or additional learning difficulties
- Work closely with teachers to deliver individualised learning plans and structured support
- Provide 1:1 and small group interventions, adapting activities to meet diverse needs
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment
- Help manage behaviours positively, promoting emotional regulation and resilience
- Encourage independence, communication skills, and life skills development
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based or transferable experience such as care, youth work, or support roles)
- A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
- Ability to remain resilient in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment
- Team player with a proactive mindset
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience supporting SEMH needs or autism
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, childcare, or care qualification)
