About the Role
A specialist SEN school in Redhill is seeking a confident and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional and complex learning needs within a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
The school supports pupils with needs including Autism (ASC), SLD, SEMH, PMLD, communication difficulties, and associated behavioural needs, with a strong focus on personalised learning, engagement, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver small group interventions and 1:1 support for SEN learners
- Provide classroom cover and lead learning activities under teacher direction
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
- Assist with implementing EHCP targets and individual learning plans
- Adapt and deliver learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
- Support behaviour regulation using positive and consistent strategies
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and wider SEN staff
- Contribute to a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils with personal care where required
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent school-based experience
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN
- Strong behaviour management and classroom support skills
- Ability to lead small groups and support learning confidently
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable:
- Experience within a specialist SEN school or alternative provision
- Knowledge of ASC, SEMH, SLD, or complex needs
- Experience using PECS, Makaton, or sensory strategies
- Experience delivering interventions or covering classes

Pay: £110.68-£150.67 per day
