Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Laser Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining laser cutting equipment to produce precise components from sheet metal and other materials. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic environment that values technical expertise and attention to detail.
Manufacturing and computer software experience is essential. Full process training provided.
Duties
- Select the correct sheet steel material and safely load it onto the laser bed.
- Check material size, thickness and grade before cutting to ensure it matches job requirements.
- Set up the laser cutting machine, including loading programs, adjusting settings and carrying out basic checks.
- Unload finished parts and unused sheet steel, storing and labelling them correctly.
- Cut and shape materials in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Inspect finished components for accuracy and quality, marking up off cut parts where required.
- Ensure all parts and sheets are handled, identified and routed correctly to the next department or team.
- Keep your work area, tools and equipment safe, clean and well maintained.
Requirements
- Experience working in a machining operative, machine minding or laser cutting/production environment.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Able to read and follow engineering drawings would be beneficial.
- A flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing and challenging requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Strong focus on quality with good attention to detail.
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to generate practical solutions.
