Complex Care Personal Assistant (PA) Female only
Salary: £14.04 - 14.85 per hour
Full-Time 10-30 hour per week
Day shift
Waking Night shifts
Weekend shifts
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and experienced individual(female) to join a small care team supporting a lady with complex health needs in her own home setting. Ideally previous experience in supporting individuals with neuromuscular disorders and high support needs would be useful.
This is a rewarding role for someone who is kind, patient, attentive, and confident supporting individuals with high-level physical care needs while also understanding the importance of dignity, independence, and companionship. We would love to hear from you. Complex care experience would be beneficial.
The client is friendly, easy-going, and enjoys conversation, technology, music, films, reading and spending time with family and friends. Has a bubbly personality with a good sense of humour and a calm personality are important, as the role involves building trust and providing support in a respectful and person-centred way. Her hobbies are reading, history, current affairs and client loves gardening.
Due to severe muscle weakness, limited mobility, and communication difficulties, the client relies on carers for all aspects of physical support and daily living. The successful applicant will work as part of a team to provide safe, consistent, and high-quality care.
Full specialist training will be provided for:
- PEG feeding and medication
- Ventilator support
- Cough-Assist machine
- Nebuliser
- Eye-tracker technology
- Moving and handling procedures
Responsibilities
- Assisting with all aspects of personal care
- Supporting with transfers using hoists and safe manual handling techniques
- Assisting with dressing, positioning, and comfort
- Supporting communication using eye-tracker technology
- PEG feeding, hydration, and medication support
- Ventilator monitoring and responding appropriately to alarms
- Assisting with daily routines and promoting independence
- Providing companionship and emotional support
- Maintaining a safe, respectful, and clean environment
- Communicate effectively with client, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Previous experience in complex care preferred
- Experience with PEG feeding, ventilators, (training can be provided)
- Experience with neuromuscular disorders, and high-level support needs
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Calm, patient, and reliable approach
- Understanding of dignity, confidentiality, and person-centred care
- Ability to follow care plans and clinical guidance accurately
- Moving and handling and hoisting experience preferred
- Willingness to undertake specialist training
