RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT WORKER

Job Title: Residential Support Worker

Pay Rate: £29.036 to £30,056 depending on qualifications and experience (scale based on qualifications and experience, inclusive of sleep in at £50 per sleep - Minimum of 4 sleeps per month)

Black Roc is a Small Children's Residential provider which is committed to providing quality therapeutic residential care to children & young people.

What will I do as a Residential Support worker

As a Residential support worker you will provide advice, assistance and support to young people and safeguards their welfare at all times. Attend to their practical, physical and emotional needs. Act as an appropriate role model and work closely with them to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential.

You will

Attend to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning etc)
Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive regard
Act as a role model and demonstrating appropriate pro-social ways of dealing with problems
Help young people gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.
Ensure that each young person’s care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs
Take responsibility for a small number of young people and ensuring that their needs are fully met
Establish relationships which young people perceive to be positive, warm and rewarding
Provide advice, assistance and support on a 1:1 basis to enable young people to address past and present difficulties
Provide emotional support at times of difficulty or stress
Be ambitious for young people, helping them achieve their goals and optimise their potential
Keep accurate records and providing written reports on young people for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings as directed by the line manager
Empower young people and facilitating their active involvement in the decision making about their lives and future
Act as an advocate at meetings
Follow policies and procedures

To be consider to work for us , you must have

Secondary Education, Maths & English
You must be over 21 years old.
Experience working in a setting where skills and knowledge are transferable in a therapeutic job role. (parental role, care work – care giving role)
Candidates must be suitable to work with children & young people within a care setting (pre-employment checks)
Ability to relate to and communicate with young people forming and maintaining appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with young people.
Childcare qualification - Diploma Level 3 /4 or equivalent or willingness to work towards this.
Awareness of safeguarding issues and ability to safeguard the welfare of young people.
Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
Hold a full UK Driving Licence

Pay: £29,036.00-£30,056.00 per year
