Full job description

The successful candidate will join the Children’s Integrated Therapy Team, supporting the delivery of specialist Occupational Therapy services for children and young people with a wide range of needs, including those with complex disabilities.

Working as a trained and supported practitioner, the post holder will manage a designated caseload and deliver, monitor and adapt therapy programmes to meet the individual needs of children and young people across a variety of settings, including homes, clinics and schools.

Following appropriate training, they will undertake assessments for children with a range of conditions and contribute to the development of personalised intervention plans.

The role also includes supporting and leading training sessions, preparing clinical resources, utilising IT systems and software to enhance clinical practice, and undertaking associated administrative duties. In addition, the post holder will work with specialist equipment to support children, young people and their families.

Regular clinical supervision and professional support will be provided by a qualified Occupational Therapist, ensuring opportunities for ongoing learning and development.

The post holder will work closely with Local Therapy Teams to deliver an efficient, high-quality, evidence-based service that is centred on the needs and goals of children and young people. They will collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues, including parents, carers and school staff, and play an integral role in delivering provision recommended within Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.

The successful candidate will provide ongoing support to children and young people on a designated caseload, delivering therapy programmes and interventions with increasing independence and under the guidance of qualified therapists as required.

They will manage and prioritise their workload across a range of settings, including homes, clinics and schools, supporting children and young people with complex disabilities and health needs. The role involves carrying out observations and assessments, adapting activities to meet individual needs, and contributing to therapy plans and reviews.

The post holder will work within departmental guidelines to deliver therapy programmes, run groups and complete screening tools, while maintaining accurate clinical records and providing regular feedback to therapists.

They will work collaboratively with families, carers and other professionals, sharing advice and information to support the care and development of children and young people and help achieve the best possible outcomes.
