The Role:
We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Care Assistants to join our team. You will be part of a dedicated Buddy Team — two carers permanently assigned to support the same client, ensuring consistency, trust and the highest quality of person-centred care. You will support clients in their own homes with daily living, personal care, and community engagement, while building genuine relationships with clients and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing personal care including washing, dressing and medication support.
- Supporting clients with autism and learning disabilities in daily routines.
- Observing and responding sensitively to sensory needs — light, sound, touch, smell and texture.
- Adapting your communication style to the individual — verbal, non-verbal and AAC methods.
- Building consistent, trusted relationships with clients and their families.
- Completing a professional handover with your buddy at every shift change.
- Proactively updating families with clear, warm and professional communication.
- Assisting with meal preparation and household tasks.
- Completing accurate care records and reporting any concerns promptly.
What We Are Looking For:
- Minimum 1 year's experience in domiciliary, community or residential care.
- Experience supporting individuals in autism and LD — communication differences, routines, sensory triggers and behaviours.
- Awareness of sensory processing — understanding sensitivities to light, sound, touch and smell and how to adapt the environment.
- Autism training (required): Proven, certified training in Autism — including one or more of: SPELL Framework (NAS), Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training (Tier 1 or 2), or equivalent accredited course. Certificates must be available on request.
- Learning Disabilities (required): Proven, certified training in Learning Disabilities (LD) — including one or more of: Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training, PBS (Positive Behaviour Support), LD Awareness, or equivalent accredited course. Certificates must be available on request.
- Excellent communication skills — verbal, written, non-verbal and with families.
- Understanding of person-centred care and positive behaviour support.
- Ability to carry out and receive professional handovers.
- Core understanding of safeguarding and CQC standards.
- Valid UK driving licence (desirable).
- Enhanced DBS check (we can support with this).
- Compassionate, reliable and emotionally aware individuals who genuinely care about making a difference.
- Strong punctuality, reliability and professionalism — our residents rely on consistency and routine.
- Calm, patient and professional approach during challenging situations.
- Understanding of safeguarding, dignity, respect and professional boundaries.
- Team players who value structure, accountability and long-term growth.
- Individuals willing to learn, develop and complete specialist training.
What We Offer You:
- Flexible shifts — you and your buddy agree your rota together (full-time 35–40 hrs/week or part-time 16–30 hrs/week)
- Mileage / petrol contribution: 45p per mile where applicable.
- Clear career progression pathway to Senior Carer and beyond.
- Referral bonus scheme — earn rewards for introducing new clients or staff.
- A warm, supportive team culture where your voice matters.
- Workplace pension (as the company grows).
- Wellness bonus — punctuality incentive vouchers rewarding great attendance.
- Fully paid training courses — autism awareness, sensory processing, safeguarding, medication, communication and more.
About Pristine Supported Living / Pristine Domiciliary Care
At Pristine Domiciliary Care, we believe care is not just about supporting someone physically — it is about making people feel safe, respected, understood and genuinely cared for. We support individuals with autism, learning disabilities and additional support needs within the comfort of their own homes, whilst promoting dignity, independence, emotional wellbeing and person-centred care. Our aim is to build trusting relationships not only with our clients, but also with their families. We understand the importance of patience, routine, communication and consistency — especially for individuals who rely on familiar faces and structured support. At Pristine, we want every individual to feel valued, supported and treated with kindness, compassion and respect at all times. We also believe carers perform their best when they feel supported too. That is why we are committed to creating a calm, respectful and positive environment for both our staff and the individuals we care for. Our goal is simple — to provide compassionate, reliable and high-quality care that genuinely makes a positive difference in people's lives.
How Our Buddy Team System Works Your Buddy Team
- You and a partner carer share a client. Shifts are split between you — full-time (35–40 hrs/week) or part-time (16–30 hrs/week) — and you agree your schedule together.
- Flexible Shifts Morning (7am–1pm) or afternoon/evening (2pm–8pm) shifts. Your buddy team picks shifts that work for both of you, giving real flexibility.
- Professional Handover At every shift changeover, a structured handover is completed — covering mood, sensory observations, behaviour, and any family communications.
- Family Updates You will communicate directly with families after visits — keeping them informed, involved and reassured about their loved one's care.
