About the Role
This is a hands-on role in a small, collaborative team providing independent assurance across our global fintech business. You will cover operational, regulatory, financial, and technology risks while gaining exposure to diverse products and jurisdictions.
You will lead and execute on audits from planning to reporting, partner with global stakeholders, and strengthen controls as Zepz scales. This is ideal for a curious professional eager to understand a global payments business end-to-end.
What You Bring to the Table
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- 7-10 years experience in internal/external audit, preferably within fintech, payments, or financial services.
- Experience leading and executing on audit engagements from planning through to reporting.
- Strong understanding of risk management, governance, and the regulatory frameworks of E-Money Institutions/Payment Institutions (PSD2, AML Regulations, FCA Handbook).
- Ability to analyse data, challenge constructively, and form evidence-based conclusions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for complex topics.
- Proactive mindset, comfortable in fast-paced environments, and able to work independently.
What You Will Focus On
Deliver Risk-Based Audits
- Lead and deliver internal audits from planning through to reporting and follow-up.
- Assess the design and effectiveness of controls across operational, regulatory, financial and technology processes.
- Identify risks, determine root causes and provide practical recommendations to strengthen controls and improve outcomes.
Provide Assurance Across a Global Regulatory Environment
- Deliver assurance work across our regulated business and assess compliance with regulatory obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Evaluate controls supporting areas such as Safeguarding, AML, Consumer Protection, Data Privacy, and Regulatory Reporting.
- Develop understanding of evolving regulatory expectations and emerging risks affecting the global payments and remittance industry.
Partner with Stakeholders
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders across the 1st and 2nd Lines of Defense.
- Communicate audit observations clearly and support stakeholders in developing effective remediation plans.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the Internal Audit function and support audit planning and risk assessment activities.
Use Data and Technology
- Use data analytics, automation and AI-enabled audit techniques to enhance audit coverage, support analysis and improve efficiency.
- Leverage technology to identify insights, perform testing and strengthen assurance activities.
- Maintain an awareness of emerging technologies and their impact on business risks and controls.
Nice to Have
- Professional qualifications (ACA, CIA, CAMS, ICA, CISA) or Big 4 background.
- Experience in payments, remittances, or e-money across multiple jurisdictions.
- Data analytics skills (SQL, Python, Tableau or similar) and familiarity with Mode.
- Interest in emerging tech like digital wallets, digital assets, and crypto markets.
AI Literacy & Tools
As Zepz continues to build AI into how we work, we expect everyone to engage with it as a core part of their role. For this position we are looking for:
- A genuine curiosity about AI and how it can be applied in your area of work — from accelerating analysis and insight generation, to improving how we design and deliver processes and communications.
- Practical experience using AI tools in a professional context — whether to connect information, draft content, build frameworks, or create insights from data. We want people who actively use AI to increase productivity, not those who are waiting to be told to.
- Strong AI literacy — an understanding of what AI assistants can and cannot do, how to prompt effectively, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated output before using it.
- Awareness of the ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in the workplace, particularly in the context of sensitive data, customer experience, and compliance.
- Prior experience using Claude (Anthropic) is a nice-to-have but not essential — what matters most is that you are genuinely engaged with AI as a tool, comfortable experimenting, and eager to share what works with your wider team
