Salary: £10,038 pa annualised (Full Time Equivalent - £ 30,000 pa)
Hours: 14 hrs per week, Term-Time Only over 38 weeks
Contract: Fixed Term Contract (September 2026 to August 2028)

What is FLOURISH?
FLOURISH is a vibrant network of intergenerational worshipping communities in schools across the country. It was created as part of the Church of England’s exciting plan to double the number of children and young people who are active disciples. Supported by the Archbishops’ Council and delivered through the National Society for Education, FLOURISH has already made great progress. Following an initial pilot 2024-26, we are delighted to join the second FLOURISH pilot project. Building on learning from the first pilot, we will explore creating new FLOURISH worshipping communities in five Church of England primary schools within the Diocese of Liverpool, inspiring more young people to grow in faith and community.
FLOURISH worshipping communities aim to work by five core principles:
- Young people’s voices are at the centre of all leadership decision-making and implementation
- A clearly articulated and shared purpose to grow a younger and more diverse community of Christian disciples
- A strategic leadership partnership between the school and a church community (with appropriate long-term governance and resource commitment)
- Intergenerational faith development experiences involving children and their families of all ages
- Worship fully integrated into the regular rhythms, practices, structures and resources of the school’s vision for the flourishing of children and adults
FLOURISH and the Diocese of Liverpool
The Diocese of Liverpool is keen to enable the co-creation of spaces where children, young people, and their families can experience genuine worship, encounter Jesus, grow as disciples, and be part of a church community. The Growing Faith research shows that young people's faith truly flourishes at the intersection of home, school, and church.
Through FLOURISH, we have received funding to explore different ways of developing intergenerational worshipping communities in five school locations across the diocese: In Warrington: St Margaret's CE Primary, St Andrew's CE Primary, St Philip's Westbrook CE Primary, Cinnamon Brow CE Primary, and Halewood CE Primary in South Liverpool.
Six Children & Youth Ministry students from Emmanuel College will use their work placements to support church volunteers and school pupils in dreaming, designing, developing, and delivering a new intergenerational worship community in each school. The FLOURISH Coordinator role is essential to the smooth running of the pilot within each school by building strong local relationships, maintaining good communication, and ensuring focus on the core FLOURISH principles mentioned above. The coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring monitoring and reporting processes are well established and for fostering vibrant learning communities across different locations.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
The FLOURISH Coordinator will be responsible for the local operation of the pilot project across the four schools in the Parish of Warrington and Halewood by:
- Initially establishing effective relationships and appropriate communication channels among stakeholders for each school - between the local worship community team, the oversight team, the governing body, the church, the local leadership team and the Larger Single Parish (LSP) PCC.
- Helping develop meaningful metrics and engaging qualitative reports that reflect the impact of the pilot and are accessible to young people, enabling them to contribute their insights effectively.
- Making sure that safeguarding policies and procedures are thoroughly put into practice with our scholarship students and church volunteers to create a safe and supportive environment for everyone.
- Supporting the scholarship students across all locations. This involves ensuring they have access to the resources needed to develop young leaders and cultivate an intergenerational worshipping community that focuses on the co-creation of spaces where children and their families can experience worship, encounter Jesus and grow as disciples as part of a church community. It's also about regularly checking in on students’ progress and wellbeing. It’s about creating a nurturing and responsive environment that helps scholarship students thrive.
- Alongside the scholarship students, coordinating access to training for young leaders and adult volunteers, and assisting with the logistics of the national gathering of young leaders, held online twice a year and in person once a year.
- Working with the Lead for School-based worship communities, the Youth Hub, the Diocesan 0-18 Team, and the local church to help the five locations (school/church) embody the five core FLOURISH principles.
- Once the worshipping communities are established, arrange learning communities across the pilot locations and ensure that learning is captured, fed back and acted on where appropriate, with support from the Lead for School-based worshipping communities and Cultivate Team
