About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technician to join our Engineering Services team at Leicestershire County Council, one of the best performing councils in the country. The successful applicant will join a motivated, friendly team of professionals committed to delivering public sector road maintenance and highway improvements that offer best value for money whilst simultaneously pushing the boundaries of innovation and carbon savings in construction. Our team has a track record of incorporating recycled materials and innovative construction techniques to reduce costs and our impact on the environment. You will report into Senior Engineers and assist them in the efficient design of multiple Highway construction schemes and maintenance works to achieve delivery within time and cost targets.

About us:
Leicestershire County Council is the local highway authority for the county, responsible for maintaining 2,575 miles of roads. We plan and deliver roadworks throughout the year, as well as providing gritting services in winter. We also work with developers and partners to ensure that new developments have appropriate and sustainable highway infrastructure. We are committed to providing a safe, efficient, and accessible transport network for all road users in Leicestershire.
Our Engineering Services team has a track record of incorporating recycled materials and innovative construction techniques to reduce costs and our impact on the environment. They are responsible for the efficient design, planning and project management of multiple Highway construction schemes and maintenance works to achieve delivery within time and cost targets, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality management systems
About You
To apply for this post, you must hold or have:
- A BTEC Higher in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification i.e. NVQ4 and hold (or be working towards) qualification as Engineering Technician (MICE)
- Experience working in an engineering setting in relation to design, management, maintenance or construction processes.
- Experience of delivering projects and programmes of work to time, quality and cost targets and working collaboratively with key stakeholders ensuring the smooth delivery of project briefs.
- Strong customer focus and able to liaise with customers and clients. Applicants must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Are competent using IT systems [including AutoCAD software] and has strong analytical, planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to interpret maps, plans and Engineering Drawings.
Knowledge of current Highways Legislation and standards
