Role Overview
To support the accurate creation, maintenance and submission of customer technical specifications and artwork information across the business. The role is responsible for entering and maintaining specification data on customer portals, supporting artwork approvals, and ensuring documentation is accurate, traceable and compliant.
The Specification & Artwork Technician works under the supervision of the Senior Specifications & Artwork Technologist and escalates complex, ambiguous or high-risk issues as required.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Specifications
- Input and maintain customer technical specifications across multiple retailer and customer portals.
- Ensure specification data is entered accurately, completely and within agreed timelines.
- Update specifications following approved changes such as vintage updates, ABV changes or formulation amendments.
- Check data against approved internal information and supporting documentation before submission.
- Flag missing, unclear or conflicting information to the Senior Specifications & Artwork Technologist.
Artwork Support
- Assist with the review of artwork and label information for accuracy against approved specifications.
- Check basic legal and customer-required fields are present and consistent (e.g. ABV, allergens, ingredients).
Team & Process Support
- Follow procedures and guidance issued by the Senior Specifications & Artwork Technologist.
- Participate in training and competency assessments.
- Support continuous improvement activities within the specifications and artwork function.
- Communicate issues, delays or risks promptly.
Performance Measures
- Accuracy and completeness of specification and artwork data.
- On-time completion of specification submissions.
- Minimal rework or corrections following review.
- Compliance with documentation and version control requirements.
- Positive feedback from senior team members and internal stakeholders
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- A-Level Chemistry or other science subject desirable.
- Previous experience in a technical, quality, specifications, compliance or FMCG administrative role advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Good IT skills with confidence using databases, portals and spreadsheets.
- Ability to follow procedures and work to deadlines.
- Clear communication skills and willingness to learn.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with appropriate prioritisation.
