About the Role
Ramage Young is a UK-based engineering company delivering a large-scale engineering project in Cergy, France. We are seeking an experienced, bilingual CAD/BIM Technician to produce and manage 3D CAD drawings and BIM models in support of this project, working closely with engineering, design and client teams across both the UK and France.
This is a technician-level role and requires a candidate who can work independently and confidently across both UK and French project environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and maintain 3D CAD drawings and BIM models to project and client standards.
- Develop and manage BIM models of complex geometry in accordance with ISO 19650 and the project BIM Execution Plan.
- Coordinate models across disciplines, run clash detection, and resolve conflicts with other design teams members.
- Attend and contribute to design coordination meetings in both English and French.
- Liaise directly with engineers, contractors, suppliers and clients in the UK and France.
- Prepare, issue and maintain drawing registers, revisions and technical documentation.
- Ensure all outputs comply with Ramage Young's and the client's CAD/BIM standards.
- Undertake site visits in Cergy and other project locations as required.
- Support the Project Engineer(s) with technical queries, RFIs and design information.
- Maintain accurate project records and document revisions for audit purposes.
- Translate or interpret technical documentation between English and French where required.
Essential Requirements – Right to Work & Language
- Right to work in both the France and Luxembourg for the full duration of the project. It will be the candidate’s responsibility to secure the right to work in both France and Luxembourg at their own expense.
- Candidates with dual nationality, settled/pre-settled status, or an existing valid visa or permit covering both UK and European jurisdictions will be given preference.
- Fluent spoken and written French to a high standard.
- English language ability at CEFR Level B2 or above (broadly equivalent to IELTS 5.5–6.5), in line with the current UK Home Office Skilled Worker English language requirement.
- Willingness and ability to travel and be based between the UK and Cergy, France or Luxembourg for the duration of the project.
Essential Requirements – Role & Technical
- Experience as a CAD/BIM Technician, Draughtsperson or Design Technician (or equivalent) working in a civil and structural engineering / construction environment.
- Proficient in industry-standard CAD/BIM software (e.g. AutoCAD 3D, Revit, Navisworks or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of BIM Level 2 processes and ISO 19650 information management standards.
- Ability to produce, check and issue accurate 2D drawings and 3D models to project and client standards.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work confidently across multi-disciplinary, cross-border teams.
- Good IT skills and sound understanding of construction/engineering documentation and revision control.
Desirable Skills
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Architecture, Building Surveying, Civil/Structural Engineering or a CAD/BIM-related discipline.
- SolidWorks 3D software experience
- Experience working on large-scale engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with French construction/engineering standards and regulations.
- A full, valid driving licence for the UK, France and Luxemburg.
Salary & Hours
- Salary: £33,800 per annum, in line with the current UK Home Office going rate for SOC Code 3120 (CAD, Drawing and Architectural Technicians, including BIM). Reviewed against current GOV.UK figures at each pay review.
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Core hours may vary to reflect site requirements in France.
