Team Support Worker

Job description

Part Time / 18.5 Hours Per Week / Permanent

Play an integral role in improving dignity, independence, and quality of life for people in Leicester in ensuring the appropriate safeguards are in place and people are enabled to live independently in their own homes.

The First Contact and Early Support Occupational Therapy team work with individuals, families, carers and the wider community using a strength-based approach. As a valued member of this fast paced service, you’ll work closely with Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assessors, colleagues from the Social Work team as well as Health colleagues, the voluntary sector, and providers to maintain the health and wellbeing of people in Leicester focussing on their functional abilities and opportunities to support their independence and safety at home.

The Children’s Occupational Therapy team work with children and young people with disabilities and additional needs to promote independence, safety and inclusion. The service provides specialist assessments, advice, equipment, adaptations and support to children and young people and their families, helping children to achieve their full potential.

You’ll have flexibility in hybrid working being both offices based, at Beaumont Way or working remotely from home to suit your needs.

The roles are Part Time, 18.5 hours in the First Contact and Early Support Occupational Therapy Team (Adults) and 18.5 hours in the Children’s Occupational Therapy team. The core working hours are typically 8.30am-5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am-4.30pm on a Friday with specific hours for these posts being discussed with the successful candidates.

What you’ll be doing

The service is very busy, and the Team Support Worker role is an integral part of the service. Your role is the first point of contact for the service in supporting people in a strength based way to live as independently as possible. You will receive telephone calls on behalf of the team, obtaining information to suport good referral taking and signposting people to other agencies and professionals who can meet their needs. You will undertake other tasks on behalf of the team in a co-ordination role under the guidance of the team leader.

What you’ll need

With a good understanding of English and maths, you must be kind, trustworthy, honest, friendly, have a good sense of humour and be a good team player while also being able to work independently of others and as a team member. Good time keeping is essential. The successful candidate will be computer literate and be willing to learn how to use the departments database system and any other tasks required.

With a commitment to working in partnership with people and their carers to understand their needs. You’ll be able to accurately gather the details of queries over the phone. With a professional manner remaining calm in all situations. You’ll have great communications and interpersonal skills. Being able to provide the caller with helpful advice and support.

With some previous experience in a social care setting you’ll be accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to organise and team work successfully.
