The Loch Ness Inn is a family-run hotel and restaurant in the beautiful village of Drumnadrochit, at the heart of Loch Ness. With 20 cosy bedrooms and a busy, predominantly restaurant-led operation, we pride ourselves on serving fantastic food and drink while giving every guest a warm, genuine Scottish welcome.

About the Role

We’re looking for a confident, hands-on Assistant Manager to join our team and support the day-to-day running of the Loch Ness Inn.

This is a highly operational role, ideal for someone with a strong restaurant or hospitality background who is keen to learn and develop their skills in hotel management.

The role is predominantly focused on the restaurant and bar operation, but you’ll also gain experience across all aspects of the hotel, including hotel reservations, guest services and general hotel management.

As Assistant Manager, you’ll be expected to be visible on the floor, lead by example and get involved wherever needed. You’ll work closely with the Hotel Manager and take responsibility for the business in their absence.

What the role involves

Supporting the Hotel Manager with the overall running of the business
Taking responsibility for the hotel when the Hotel Manager is absent
Being hands-on across the restaurant, bar and hotel operation
Leading and supporting the Front of House team during service
Managing guest experience and dealing confidently with queries or issues
Supporting hotel reservations, check-ins, check-outs and guest enquiries
Assisting with rotas, staffing levels and day-to-day operational decisions
All training of front of house staff
Opening and closing procedures, including cash handling
Working closely with housekeeping and supporting room checks where required
Maintaining high standards of food, drink, service and presentation
Managing and driving wet sales, with bonus opportunities linked to achieving 67% GP+ bar and wine sales
Learning and developing your knowledge of the wider hotel trade

This is a hands-on management position rather than a desk-based role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being involved, leading from the front and working as part of a small, friendly team.

Who We’re Looking For

You may already be working as a Restaurant Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, Bar Manager or Assistant Manager and be ready to take the next step.

Hotel experience is not essential. What matters most is that you have a strong hospitality background, understand great service, are confident leading a team and are keen to learn the hotel side of the business.
