Full job description

Triangle provides specialist communication services for children, young people and vulnerable adults in a legal setting.

Finance Manager Fixed Term Contract 6 months to start in September 2026

Job Purpose

The Finance Manager is responsible for the effective management of the organisation's financial, operational, administrative and compliance functions. Working closely with SLT and Directors, the role oversees all aspects of day-to-day finance, payroll, reporting, recruitment support and business operations. This role also owns the end-to-end MI submission to ensure payment from our external contracts.

This is a hands-on role requiring a highly organised and proactive individual capable of balancing strategic financial responsibilities with the practical demands of running a busy organisation. The postholder acts as a central point of contact for staff, customer, suppliers and external stakeholders, ensuring the smooth operation of the business while maintaining high standards of financial control, compliance and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

· Manage the day-to-day finance function and maintain accurate financial records.

· Monitor and manage the finance inbox, responding promptly to enquiries from customers, suppliers, staff and clients.

· Take calls from customers and suppliers as needed.

· Investigate and resolve complex financial queries and historic accounting issues.

· Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including credit control.

· Conduct regular bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple accounts.

· Maintain financial controls and ensure accurate documentation is retained for audit and compliance purposes.

Cashflow & Supplier Management

· Maintain positive working relationships with suppliers, customers and stakeholders.

· Support Directors with financial information required for decision making. Maintain management dashboards and prepare regular finance updates and reports for Directors.

Payroll & Employee Finance Administration

· Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process.

· Administer PAYE obligations and ensure timely payments to HMRC.

· Complete pension reporting and pension scheme uploads.

· Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with employment and payroll regulations.

Compliance & Statutory Responsibilities

· Prepare and submit VAT returns and pay VAT liabilities.

· Ensure accurate financial records are maintained in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

· Support internal audits and compliance reviews where required.

Operations & Business Support

· Provide support and guidance to staff on funding, bookings, finance and operational matters.

· Delegate finance related tasks to administrative team members and monitor completion.

· Coordinate refunds, travel reimbursements and booking amendments.

· Develop and improve systems, processes and ways of working to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

· Support business improvement initiatives and special projects.

Team & Recruitment Support

· Assist with office cover arrangements and staffing coordination.

· Promote a positive and supportive working environment through regular engagement with team members.

· Assist with onboarding and induction processes for new employees.

· Maintain employee records and workforce information.

Annual Planning Responsibilities

· Review and maintain rota formulas.

· Support COO to calculate workforce and resource planning figures including annual pay rises, associated cost analysis and bonuses.

· Manage annual leave year-end processes and entitlement updates.

Skills & Experience

Essential

· AAT Level 2 qualification or ACCA or equivalent qualification.

· Strong experience in finance, bookkeeping and operational management.

· Experience using Xero or similar accounting software.

· Experience of managing complex MI submissions to external stakeholders.

· Capable of owning end to end payroll process.

· Knowledge of VAT, PAYE and pension processes.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Strong organisational and time-management abilities.

· High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

· Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

· Strong Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel and SharePoint.
