Reservations & Events

Burgh Island Hotel | Bigbury-on-Sea, Devon

Full Time | 40 Hours per Week (including some weekends)
Salary: £28,000 per annum, plus monthly gratuities

At Burgh Island Hotel, every guest arrives with a sense of anticipation. Whether they're celebrating a wedding, escaping for a romantic weekend, enjoying a family gathering or fulfilling a lifelong dream of visiting our iconic island, your role is to make that experience exceptional from the very first conversation.

We're looking for an organised, personable and proactive Reservations & Events Executive to become the friendly voice behind our guest journey. This is a varied role that combines reservations, event coordination and guest service, working closely with every department to ensure memorable experiences from enquiry through to departure.

What you'll be doing

No two days are ever quite the same at Burgh Island. You'll play a central role in welcoming guests before they even arrive, ensuring every booking is managed with care and every event is delivered seamlessly.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing hotel and restaurant reservations by phone, email and online booking channels.
Providing a warm, knowledgeable and professional experience for every guest enquiry.
Maximising occupancy through effective management of availability, rates and packages.
Processing deposits, payments and booking amendments accurately.
Coordinating guest arrival information, including our famous sea tractor crossing times.
Managing group bookings, rooming lists, dining reservations and pre-orders to ensure every detail is planned ahead of arrival.
Upselling dining experiences, celebrations, special occasion packages and additional guest experiences.
Acting as the main point of contact for weddings, private events and celebrations.
Conducting show rounds for prospective clients.
Preparing event proposals, contracts and detailed function plans.
Working closely with our Head of Brand & Events and operational teams to ensure every event runs flawlessly.
Coordinating suppliers, timelines and event logistics.
Supporting guest feedback, administrative tasks and marketing opportunities where appropriate.

About you

You'll naturally enjoy looking after people and take pride in delivering outstanding service. You're highly organised, calm under pressure and enjoy juggling multiple priorities without losing attention to detail.

You'll ideally have:

Previous experience within reservations, events, hospitality administration or a similar customer-focused role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational skills and great attention to detail.
Confidence using reservation or booking systems (or the ability to learn quickly).
A positive, professional and friendly approach.
The flexibility to work some weekends and occasional evenings during our busy events calendar.
A genuine passion for hospitality and creating unforgettable guest experiences.
